Interesting town names

... inspired by this morning's USA Today article. Perhaps the list is endless, but I'll start anyway...

I live near PIT and there are quite a few interesting names in the area: in addition to Moon (you can see the road sign featured in the article on your way to PIT from downtown), we have Mars; along the Ohio river are Economy and Industry; we've also got Slippery Rock and Oil City to the north.

Any interesting town names around where you live or you visit often?

Southern Michigan is the proud home of Hell, Michigan, including its annual Run Through Hell foot race.

Michigan is also home to my favorite town name, Bad Axe.

On this side of the country there's Boring, Oregon; Grotto, WA, and Zzyzx, CA.

PA has Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse in the Pennsyvania Dutch countryside. Every Valentine's Day brings mention of Loveland TX and Love Canal NY. There's a Paris in Kentucky, a Cambridge and Alexandria in Minnesota, New London Ontario, Monroeville near Pittsburgh, King of Prussia near Philadelphia, and Indiana also in PA (and also the name of a state college, like Slippery Rock and Lock Haven). Upstate NY has Ithaca (also a Greek Island), IIRC Syracuse is also a Greek name, and Utica, Senica, etc. from Indian names. MN has Mille-Lacs (but not pronounced the French way), New Ulm, and New Prague.

Condom, France (but it has a circumflex on the name)

My favorite is Big Bone Kentucky. It is near the similarly named Big Bone Lick state park

There's Dull, in Scotland.

And there's talk of it being twinned with Boring, in Oregon. :)

I used to commute from Mars to Moon every week :)

I remember visiting Hell - both Grand Cayman and Michigan.
