PA has Bird-in-Hand and Intercourse in the Pennsyvania Dutch countryside. Every Valentine's Day brings mention of Loveland TX and Love Canal NY. There's a Paris in Kentucky, a Cambridge and Alexandria in Minnesota, New London Ontario, Monroeville near Pittsburgh, King of Prussia near Philadelphia, and Indiana also in PA (and also the name of a state college, like Slippery Rock and Lock Haven). Upstate NY has Ithaca (also a Greek Island), IIRC Syracuse is also a Greek name, and Utica, Senica, etc. from Indian names. MN has Mille-Lacs (but not pronounced the French way), New Ulm, and New Prague.

Also in PA - Blue Ball, Paradise, and Mt. Joy...

Childish I know but I always get a kick when someone takes a drive thru Mianus, Ct (and yes, that's pronounced My)

Peculiar town names

I don't know if Peculiar, MO is an interesting town name. But you must admit it's Peculiar.

Michigan has some great town names. I remember driving past Climax, MI. There's Colon, MI south of it. Not a place, but exit 69 to Big Beaver Road on I75. Other Oregon villages include Drain and Remote.

How about Abitibi-Témiscamingue, Québec, Canada

I know it's not interesting in the same way as Dildo or Climax is but hey...

Oh, how about Intercourse, PA (in Amish country...)

It's a pity that there's not another town up the hill called Upper Pratt's Bottom.

There's a town called 1770 in Queensland, Australia.

Shellow Bowells, England, and Tittybong, Australia.

And I thought I was driving through a Mills and Boon novel when passing through the hamlets of Patrick Brompton, then Constable Burton, in Yorkshire, UK.

Ah yes, Dildo Newfoundland.

If you go there, I also suggest driving to the following towns, all in the same province:

Blow Me Down
Come By Chance
Conception Bay

Humptulips, Washington

Biggar, Saskatchewan. (not much more than a few streets and a grain elevator, but they do have a large billboard that says: "New York is big, but this is BIGGAR!")

Not quite the same level of amusement, but my current home of Biggleswade always sounds funnier than it should.

I do have friends who live in the nearby places of Moggerhanger, Tyttenhanger Green and Shingay-cum-Wendy.

I don't, however, know anyone from Lickey End.

An eternal source of confusion is the nearby town of Ware. Where? Exactly.

It's London, Ontario. Not New London.

I always appreciated the humor in the town names on the eastern shore of Virgina that were from Native American words-- my two favorites were Onancock, VA and Assawoman, VA... ;)

Now down here in Texas, we do have "Gun Barrel City, Tx" and the small town of "Ding Dong, Tx" along with many others
