Why is March so expensive?

I just booked UAL from SFO to IAD in January for <$300. In looking at March 24-31, its >$600! Is this a Spring Break fare? Or will they come down as we get closer?

Cool

Is IAD the next Fort Lauderdale? Hot chicks on the banks of the Potomac swilling brewskis in bikinis?

Who'da thunk it...?

There are exactly seven hot people in the entire District of Columbia, and at least five of them are NYC exiles who are at the moment seriously questioning their life choices...

At any rate, the fare is high almost certainly because of spring break. There are lots of colleges in the DC area, and most people who aren't from the region try to get out of it at every possible moment. Especially to a place like SF/Northern California - especially if Mommy and Daddy buy the ticket, which is probably the case with most college students.

Thanks

I figured it was spring break. BTW, IAD is near DC, not Lauderdale.

I'll wait to see if rates come down.

I think the poster was joking....

One possibility would be to look into fares on Southwest to IAD, or even BWI. I just checked out some dates, and there are lots of fares available well under $600 r/t.
