Lufthansa or Cathay LAX-BLR

I've heard Lufthansa has some pretty ancient 747-400s on this route without any personal screens... it's $40 cheaper than Cathay on the same route and about 4 hrs less on flight time. Does Cathay have individual screens on this route? Is the food/service better on Cathay? I guess i'm trying to decide between Lufthansa and Cathay...

Haven't flown economy in either, but yes, Cathay does have tv screens, which can make the time go by much faster. Some folks really like the Cathay economy seats, which slide forward within a shell so you recline a bit (rather than tilt back, which is what LH and most other airlines have), and some folks hate them.

If you're not hung up on miles or status, then CX is definitely superior to LH in Y. CX has PTVs, Asian service (not saying its' better, but certainly different from LH) and better food (IMO, it's a personal opinion).

However if you'd prefer equally timed flights - then LH is better - CX has a 14 hour followed by a 6 hour segment, while LH is 11 followed by 8 hours (very approx).

booked the Lufthansa flight but gosh I should've waited, a few other options came up today from Emirates...same flying time and $150 cheaper and it would've been a much newer plane as well ah! live and learn...don't book too early
