Bulkhead passengers decide to help themselves to underseat storage.

Sat in 7F on CO 753 last night (not the greatest seat, but it'll do for a flight where all I want to sleep). Towards the end of boarding, a party of 3 boards, two of whom are seated next to me. They are laughing and joking and having a good time. They place their purses on the floor in front of them, and the third member of the party decides to stand in front of the bulkhead so she can chit chat.

The F/A comes by and lets them know the purses have to go in the overhead. They don't do anything until the door is closed and they're getting ready to push back. F/A asks again, so the passengers try to find overhead space (which is crammed to the gills by now).

The passenger then asks passenger 9C (who already has something in his underseat storage) if she can put his purse there. Passenger tries to object but Ms. 7D just sits down again.

Upon landing, it's the same story - the F/A says they need to stow their purses NOW, and asks where they got them from. Passenger points to 9C. F/A disappears with purse and stows it a good ways back.

The sense of entitlement from many passengers is disheartening, and it spans all classes (cabin, socioeconomic, or otherwise).

What irritated me about this poacher is that she specifically targeted someone who did not understand English.

And she and her friends were chatting in a non-English language the whole time. (But she did speak English when she asked if she could poach his space.)

Someone asks if they can put their stuff in "your" designated space.

Two choices are totally up to you. You can:

A: Say "OK, go ahead"

ot B: Say "No, not here"

Where do you suggest that purse be placed if the overhead compartments are "crammed to the gills"?

I'm sure they can find space with the rest of the checked luggage.

I suggest stowing one's personal item when boarding, not after the second time the F/A tells you it needs stowed.

Unless you've got no idea what they're saying, since you don't speak the same language.

I always try and book a seat not in the bulkhead row ..... but on the CRJ7 or 319, etc, it means that I am in row 2. Understanding that the folks in row 1 do not have adequate space available, I have offered several times to let them put bags under their own seat (in my leg room) so long as they understand I want the space back right after take off and until we are ready to land.

Do you place your wallet in your checked bags? Just wondering.

No, nor do I burden other people with dealing with my belongings for me. If you can't figure out how to store your purse/wallet during boarding, then it can go in the same place my roll-a-board would go if I had one and couldn't find space for it.
