Any Pro upgrading tips?
Hi,
I just wanted to ask how you usually get upgraded to better class?(without miles)
I'm soon travelling on a long distance flight and was thinking what could be the best way to do it, money wise?
I don't fly very often, and if, always Economy.
How do you do it, book a higher Economy or premium economy ticket?
How big are my chances to get as a normal person an upgrade.
Flight would be Dallas to London.
Thanks for your help.

Depending on the airline and route, some airlines will offer upgrades at the gate for a reduced amount. But you should still plan on spending a considerable amount to upgrade from economy to business. If you're on UA, the E+ seats are reasonably priced for upgrading on international routes compared to the upgrade to business.

Unless you have elite status and use miles + copay, this is your only (slim) opportunity.

Why do you think you deserve one anyways. The airlines give those seats to their best customers. You don't fit that profile. Should that seat be so important to you then pay for it.

Upgrade policies and ways to upgrade coach flights are specific to the individual airline you're flying. In your earlier thread about a similar question flying AA, you received some answers similar to the ones here. Assuming that your Dallas - London flight is on AA, and you still have unanswered questions, I'd suggest posing them in your earlier thread here:

Meanwhile, I'll close this thread. If your travel is not on AA, please let me know and we'll discuss the best forum to use. Ocn Vw 1K, Co-Moderator, TravelBuzz.
