Long weekend getaway over Thanksgiving; suggestions welcome
I'm heading home to NYC to spend Thanksgiving with my family, but I'm hoping to build a mini-vacation on the Friday-Monday afterwords; I've been poking around places in the Gulf and Central America to spend roughly 3 days at before I fly back to PDX. Right now Panama was looking like a good option, although award tickets are being proving difficult to find; in addition, I looked at the Bahamas, but found that hotel prices are outrageous there.
So here's my question for FT, what's a good place to head on the Thanksgiving weekend that I can realistically get to on Star Alliance?

Sadly, I can't remember the island's name but the airport is Princess Juliana (TXM I think). Sorry I don't remember the exact code or island but I'm 100% sure on the airports name. Good spotting, miles, and nice hotel near the airport with good beaches. Another good one is San Juan, PR. No passport, good beaches, good hotels, lots of flights. Hope I helped! Good luck!
