When you get to 100 countries (well some are parts of countries) you could join Travelers Century Club

I use Microsoft Street & Trips. All of my destinations have a marker with information in a balloon pop up for each. Only 20 bucks or so. Will also let you plot trips, gives driving directions, shows Hotels, Restaurants etc. and will integrate with a GPS. And it's installed right on your hard drive. No internet connection needed.

I was just looking for some myself and these 3 look appropriate. TravBuddy also breaks down the US, Canada, UK, and Australia into regions.

Bumping up this thread as it's been 5 years and keen to see what the new alternatives are as unfortunately the TripAdvisor 'where I've been' doesn't seem to have the data inputted before so need to re-start

Ideally the website would:

- count countries and cities
- visually pin cities/shade countries
- ability to embed in website

Thanks in advance

Sounds like you've got the genesis for a new website / app there! I'd certainly use it!

Google Map is one of the authentic resource which can give you information about the number of locations you've visited

I see a number of results when googling "track countries you've visited". Here's one example of an app, but there are others.

I also kind of like the idea of an old-fashioned wall map with push-pins, though of course that's not shareable so easily!

I used the app 'been'. It's really useful and lets you select the countries you've been to and colours them in, in the map.
