New IATA excess baggage rules...
Recently I made several inquiries from several Asian airlines regarding excess baggage charges for a bicycle (in addition to the regular 20 kg of baggage in economy). I'd be flying out of SYD into Africa or the Middle East. They stated what it would cost me now, BUT one airline said that new IATA-mandated rules would come into effect this November and ...
Does anyone have a link for these new rules? I tried a Google search but could not find a link.
I even searched this forum, but found nothing! Thanks.

My guess is they are referring to the "Most Significant Carrier" rule.

That said, the MSC policy was supposed to be in effect as of earlier this year so maybe they meant something else.

Because I would be flying ONLY with the one airline the MSC rule would not apply. The 3 zones were mentioned, BUT it was obviously ANOTHER IATA rule. Their comment of the rule coming into effect in Nov/11 also precludes the oft-mentioned MSC rule.
Other suggestions are welcome, otherwise I'll just have to wait until the airlines post the new "rules" on their websites. Thanks for any info
