LHR - BNE

Hi,

I'm trying to get a good fare to go from LHR or close to BNE around 2/3 weeks time.
I want to go Business if I can afford it (<£3k?). I was considering EK but I don't think they have business availability on the way out.
Does anybody have experience of paying for an upgrade with EK at the gate and if there's any discount?

Cheers

From what I hear you have no chance for paid upgrades on EK on the day, other than by repricing for fare difference.

Welcome to FT!

Welcome to FlyerTalk!

Have you tried any research of your own yet? Many people on this forum will look more favourably on people who make a little effort before landing a question on the board.

I know British Airways is in the habit of offering upgrades from premium economy to business for £399 per sector when they have space, but they don't fly to BNE so you'd have to go to SIN or possibly and pick up another airline there.

In any case, are you looking for one-way or round-trip? And what are your expected dates of travel?

No so much anymore, and certainly not from UK-Australia. Onboard paid upgrades are gone on BA as well, and the MMB upgrade are always dearer than £400 per sector.

Not from what I've seen on the BA board, but I digress.

The OP's rather constricted budget for flying in J from London to Australia on relatively short notice is, from my searches, only going to happen with Korean Air LHR-ICN-BNE, costing £2,912.33 on some random dates in October, and the timings lead to an 18-hour layover in ICN on the way back.

I was looking at going out 12-Oct returning 22-Dec.

I just saw EK at £2299 coach on the way out, business on the way back and wondered what the options were as the only thing I could find when researching was for free upgrades, no paid options.
The only experience with paid upgrade options at the gate I have is VS, which always have a set price for one class upgrade if you ask.

I think I'll go either Korean Air or there seems to be a good deal with Cathay Pacific for about £3100.

Thanks for the advice and the welcome!
