Having to remake the bed

On a recent stay, I jumped into bed only to jump out again -- the housekeeper had short-sheeted me! In her defense, it was King with the kind of setup that one couldn't get under the mattress at all at the top; best one could do was shove the (non-fitted) sheet down the space as best possible.

What it turns out she'd done was to use a Queen flat sheet going the wrong way as a bottom sheet. I remade that sheet the right way as best I could, put the King sheet that went under the duvet on top as an additional bottom sheet, and used the King sheet that had been on top of the duvet as the top sheet instead. Fortunately, the next day's housekeeper didn't change the sheets (undoing my efforts), but just made up what was there.

The other times I've had to remake the bed was at a chain that uses a heavy waffle-pattern blanket sandwiched between two top sheets as a duvet of sorts ... mega-ugh!

Any other folks find at the last minute, when all ready for beddie-bye, that there's work ahead?

I actually prefer it when they put a sheet on each side of the blanket. It allows me to use the blanket without feeling like I'm snuggling up with the dried body fluids of hundreds of strangers. Ick!

I don't mind the sheet-blanket-sheet, it's the waffle pattern that irritates me.

Gotcha! I've either not come across the waffle blanket or just not noticed it.

Waffle sheet is nice in Hawaii..

Actually very relaxing and don't mind it.. gotten used to it over the years..

I see it as Aloha hospitality..

I constantly have to re-do the bed. Housekeeping usually tucks everything in on 3 sides, and I like it loose. So I have to walk all the way around pulling out the top sheets and blankets. Looks sloppy but can't be helped. I find it very irritating at hotels that use a flat sheet on the mattress where they should use a fitted one.
