When to purchase the ticket?
I'm asking the following question because so much of airline travel these days is counterintuitive, at least for me.
If the intended flight is Denver to Portland, OR the beginning of August, should I follow logical thinking and buy a ticket as soon as possible given rising fuel costs and...?

Nobody can predict if or when the prices will change, and which direction they will change. If so, they would be able to make a fortune.
Search engines like Bing will give some indication what their data shows as to future increases or decreases in the fare, but personally I have not found them to be overly accurate.
What I recommend, buy when you feel comfortable, and don't check it again, so you won't be disappointed if it drops.
