Where do you go through security or customs

Where do you go through security or customs
We will be flying on an air canada flight from halifax NS to Montreal and then to Barcelona Spain . I was wondering if anyone knows the process for the flight
1: do we need to go through security or customs when we land in montreal or go straight to the gate for our connecting flight
2: will our luggage be tagged straight through to barcelona or do we need to pick it up in montreal and then place it on the belt again to get loaded on the plane to barcelona

Hi,
If on one ticket your bags will be tagged through to Barcelona.
Once in Montreal as long as you do not go landside ( through baggage reclaim) there is no need to clear security again, just follow signs for your Barcelona flight.

In YUL, for Canada-International connections as long as you don't leave the secure area, you won't have to reclaim any luggage or go through security again.
If your return flight itinerary is BCN-YUL-YHZ, then you will need to clear Canadian customs in Montreal and you will have to claim your checked luggage and recheck it

Hope our luggage makes it to Barcelona
Worst case scenario: They lose your luggage and you get to spend some time in El Corte Ingls. That's a really nice department store right on Plaa Catalunya, near Las Ramblas.
I have purchased some really nice things there, but not because I lost my bag.
