memphis nyc

Hey how long in length is the flight from memphis to nyc. I see the airlines say 2 1/2 hours but how long can i expect from takeoff to landing?

and can you transfer miles/points from one airline to the other?

Welcome to FT!

Flight times really can vary based on a number of variables such as winds, weather, etc. I've done this trip a couple of times and I would say the average in air time is about 1:45. YMMV.

Agree with the above re 1:45-ish in the air, but the schedule can allow up to 2:30 because at all 3 NYC airports depending on weather (which can close one or more runways) or just heavy air traffic at certain times of day, your flight could EASILY circle or be placed in a slowdown pattern for that extra time. Happens all the time into NYC. Allow the full 2:30 for your time budgeting and consider it a bonus if your flight beats it.

You might be able to, but you might not want to because you'll lose a significant amount of the. Here's a link to a Mileage Converter that will let you know what's possible. http://www.insideflyer.com/tools/mileage_converter/

If it doesn't show, that's probably because there is no viable way to do that particular transfer.
