is there a flyertalk for driving?
I searched the forums and found threads about driving directions. I didn't find a link or name of a website where drivers share tips on best ways to get somewhere from somewhere else. Is there such a website for U.S. locations?
I'm looking for tips like "avoid route 202 during rush hour, the interstate is actually better" or "route 30 looks like a small road on the map but is actually a highway with a 55 mph speed limit" etc....
Anyone have ideas about how to find this kind of info or where to ask?

http://maps.google.com/... well not really, but I don't think you can upgrade too much when driving and GM does have traffic conditions and provides alternate routes, depending on historical traffic conditions.

you can post these kinds of questions in the local forums
both domestic and international boards have forums where you can ask location specific questions with good results and there are a lot of locals and a lot of frequent travelers to this area that would share just those type of insights.

Two other suggestions: 1) if you can use any help from the TravelBuzz moderators as to the best local/regional forum to use, just PM or email us.
2) If you're driving through an area supported by reliably updated maps of local traffic conditions, check them out before you start. My business trips often require 60-75 mile drives to/from airports through oft-congested So. Calif traffic and checking, e.g., the L.A. Basin Sigalert map has saved me lots of time.
