Using pool at a different hotel

This might be a strange question. I am staying at a hotel in NYC and was wondering if as a Starwoods Gold member or Hilton gold VIP member I am allowed to use the hotel pools of the Starwoods and Hilton their hotels in Manhattan if I am not staying at the hotel. Needless to say I am not staying at a starwoods or hilton pool this trip.

Would the answer change if I become a Starwoods Platinum or Hilton Diamond VIP?

Thanks

You generally have to be a guest at the hotel to use the pool, even if you are an elite member. Some hotels have day rates for non guests, so it's worth calling the front desk to ask.

Here's a partial list of NYC hotel pools, many with the day pass cost:

I would phone up the hotel and see if they would make an exception.

I absolutely wound not expect a positive answer unless the hotels have the same owner and the one with the pool is not in a higher category.

Some city hotels have deals with local health clubs. Look at the info notebook in your room or ask at the desk.

You might call the hotel at which you're staying and ask if they have a pool use arrangement with any other hotels in their family, or could make one for you.

Call the front desk. You don't want to be escorted off the property.
