CRJ landing gear continues to malfunction
The Bombardier CRJ had in the last 2 years 5 problems with landing gear - during landing.
Two incidents occured in the last week. A pax took a video clip during the landing. It was shown on NBC.
Anyone concerned?

I've been flying CRJs of all sizes for many, many years now and have always felt safe. These planes take off and land more than most other a/c (I've seen articles mentioning up to 7 flights a day), so naturally more maintenance is required.

To heck with landing gear trouble, I just never want to be in one of those packed sardine cans if you NEED to get out. Consequently, I always try to be within a row or so of the overwing exits.

Meh, the chances of dying whilst flying are approximately the same as getting hit by a meteor while inside a bomb shelter. Passenger planes in first world countries basically never crash (Name another crash aside from Colgan in BUF in the last year or two...). I'm generally more worried about the fat person shoehorned into the seat next to me smothering me with their gith while I sleep.

I remember seeing some statistics somewhere that showed safety statistics for the major carriers versus the commuter airlines (which are the ones that operate the CRJs.) The number of fatalities per passenger-mile was somewhere around 2x to 2.5x as high for the commuter airlines. However, a lot of that discrepancy is probably because the smaller planes run fewer miles per segment, and much of the risk is during takeoff and landing.
