Staybridge Suites, hands down, for mid/low price chains. Beats Holiday Inn Express and Residence Inn by a mile. (And I do like the HIX cinnamon rolls.)

My vote is Hyatt Place. Grapefruit and hot egg sandwiches hit the spot.

Homewood Suites is all over the place -- some are barely more than cereal and oatmeal in a tiny, crowded space. Some are nice hot entrees in a comforting and truly home-like dining area.

Never seen a free breakfast. The room is always a higher price with a breakfast than one without.

Anyone saying that Embassy Suites are best seems not been unfortunate to stay at their property LAX South...

Never again...

Well, yes, it's an included breakfast.

But most people also refer to free wifi, free soap and shampoo, free water (when it's free) and free cookies at the front desk, so I think that ship has sailed.

In general, Embassy still wins as a chain. Much like how some properties in other brand portfolios are better than others, some ESs fall short. But overall, ES is consistently above average, in my experience.
