To the OP,

Dont get too bothered. Some here like to get on their ivory towers and preach down to others.

Anyway stay away from DL.

I only fly UA P.S. so I don't know about other airlines.
I was under the impression that this was REALLY cheap.

True... For LAX-JFK the norm is $3000-3500... I think DL's fares for J from SFO/LAX-JFK is a rip-off, no wonder they are having a hard time selling seats...

My father's company pays for his trips, my mom goes with him sometimes [when the trip is more of a vacation rather than work related], and she pays for her own plane ticket... However, when we were looking for homes in CA back then, the company paid for both of my parents to fly and look for homes before my father agreed to relocate to the Bay Area... I guess it all varies depending on individual situations...

You are right. His company will pay for him and any family who will be moving with him in J. He is single and I am not moving with him.
I am just shocked at the delta between J and Y cabins. 6X.

Don't be. For fun, look up the difference between Y and C/J and F fares from SFO to Europe, Asia or Australia. then you'll see how much the difference can really be.

I've been in J/C from SFO to Asia and Europe.
Right now, from SFO - HKG, difference in UA is only 2.5X and CX and SQ are 4.5X.
I can understand the lure and value of C/J class in international travel, but domestic to JFK where Y fares are very competitive.
