passport number question
I was filling out my families' passport information for a cruise checkin. My wife & kids just got their passports. I have had mine for a couple years, but haven't used it yet.
Their passport number on the picture matches the barcoded number that is on the inside of the back cover. My number isn't anywhere close. I am trying to figure out what the barcoded number on the inside back cover is on mine. Any idea? Is there something wrong with mine?

I don't think there is anything wrong with it.
I recently had to renew my passport. On my new one, the number on the bar code on the inside of the back cover matches the passport number. On my old one, the two numbers do not match. And it worked fine every time for the nearly ten years I traveled with it.
The new one is one of the new electronic ones, the old one was not.

I just filled out the passport renewal form, and question 10 asks for the number of the passport book, which is not the same as my passport number (on the page with my photo), I called the pp agency to question this, and they said to use the pp number. I wondered why they couldn't make it clear what they really wanted. After reading this thread, it seems, that for the newer pps, there is NO confusion--mine is 9 years old...
In another thread on ft, the new proposed fee scale is listed. I'm willing to lose a year to not have to pay the extra fee of $82 to have extra pages added.
