Suggestions on SIN - HKG?
Hi guys (my first post here)
I will fly SIN-HKG-SIN in october and I am not sure with which airline.
I saw that there are some very cheap flights with Tiger Airways. But then i heard some bad things about them (reliability, service). Would u suggest to fly with CX or is Tiger OK? Any other alternatives that you could recommend?
I have to make a connection in SIN on my way back, so i have to be on time more or less
Is there a way to find out about the onboard equipment on the cathay website for the chosen flight?

I've flown Jetstar Asia on this route before and I'll say that it's "acceptable", though definitely a step down from CX/SQ.
I wouldn't want to fly on Jetstar Asia with kids, but for a single traveller or couple its no problem.

It's a complete crapshoot as to whether you will get a CX plane with or without AVOD on any regional route, and it could change right up until boarding.
Like kchika I'd probably go with the SQ A380, just because I haven't flown one yet.

United is the other alternative, but they have one of the worst timings and ex-HKG is a bit vunerable to delays since 744s arrive from the US. Fares ex-HKG on www.unitedairlines.com.hk go as low as HKD900 rt (SGD162) regularly but for some reason, www.unitedairlines.com.sg ex-SIN is significantly more expensive (SGD538).
By order of price (published fares on website) - full-service carriers:
Singapore Airlines
Cathay Pacific
United Airlines
Jetstar and Tiger are both very competitive. Maybe even consider AirAsia to KUL.

As this has nothing to do CX specifically... I'll move this to the Travelbuzz forum..
But welcome to Flyertalk, angelo85!

thanks
Thanks for all your replies!
I just saw that the CX flights got a lot more expensive (it was around 530SGD, now more than 2000SGD)...There probably was an offer until the end of march. Do u guys think that this offer might show up again some time?
Dam, i should have booked CX, i had no idea the offer would finish at the end of march....
I will fly the SQ A380 in September, so flying the A380 is not the most important thing for me on this leg....

unless the world economy took off over night I really can't see CX trying to charge 2K sgd in economy
they do in J but shouldn't really considering the product on the route and the other further afield prices...More likely from my rather limited experience I suspect CX haven't loaded the latest fares yet on the website but yes CX just to Hong Kong from Sing is not the greatest deal. In J UA is the cheapest although as said the flights are not at good times.
