... I saw the icon but could not for my life believe a 'man running for the exit' was chosen as the symbol associated with 'switch to old ui'. But looking at the new ui, it is quite fitting!!! |

Does anyone know of any tools with alerts that accept more than 6 origin/destinations? (Unfortunately ITA does not do alerts) |

i just wanted to say that i hate hate hate hate hate hate the new version.

The new version now has a filter for 'Overhead bin access' (i.e. non-Basic Economy). Too bad they hadn't done that before migrating to the new version.
|
It looks like you can no longer initiate tracking a flight in the classic version now, has anyone found a work-around for this other than tracking in the new version?

Anyone else notice that the little guy on the bottom that allowed you to use the classic UI has been removed? You can still access the classic version via the url for now

What is classic url?
|
<<rant on>> Ohhhh God that new format is horrible. What's with all these giant boxes and dropdown menus that come and go, disappear, pop up, etc... I have to scroll down on my laptop just to see most of the flights. Giant images of information I don't need.... It's just so annoying.
I know that everybody is designing their websites to look good on iPads now, but good lord can't I just get all the information on one screen in a normal-sized font?!? And you kids get off my lawn, or I'm gonna give you a real what-for!!! <<rant off>> |

Here's the direct link to the classic interface: https://google.com/flights/?f=0 I have this bookmarked and just go directly there :) Dreading the day when they remove this functionality. EDIT #2 to add:

Thank you Zorak! I forgot to bookmark the classic version before the running man was removed.
Current web design trends are awful.:td::td::td: The whole lot of them should be pushed out the door at FL100 without a chute. |
Good Information! Thanks!

Strange one I noticed today: I am connected to a VPN. I've noticed that Google Flights (old view) will only return Easyjet flights from AMS-EDI when logged in to the VPN. When I disconnect it and refresh the search it shows up all the other flight options.
Anyone seen this before? |

Anyone seen this before? On another note, I found the "separate ticket" function to no longer be working as well (at least for domestic US). I was trying to combine 2 one-way tickets on different carriers onto a single GF result using multi-city—just so I could send it to a friend easily—and it wouldn't show the return flight I found when searching one way even with "Show Separate Tickets" checked. Previously, I had no issue with this. |
I can't add any more tracked prices.
Says can't have more than 100. Well I don't have 100 active ones. The only way it could be over 100 is if it's including "Past Tracked prices" in the 100 count. Anyone else having this problem? I never had to delete past tracked prices in the old version of GF. |
Old version of GF gone?
I was doing a search on GF earlier today and refreshed my page and it went over to the new version. Doesn't seem like the old one is accessible anymore (via the google.com/flights?f=0 link).
I guess it's time to say our farewells... |
Ah, it's back after briefly disappearing! I guess we're counting the days now....

I'm still getting the old UI, for now... tick tock
|
That's a bummer, I find the new version takes longer to use
|
Still possible to get the old interface. You can change SEL into any preferred airport code.
google.com/flights/?f=0#search;f=SEL |

google.com/flights/?f=0#search;f=SEL If anyone from the Google team is lurking here PLEASE reinstate the f=0 backdoor. The new interface is less responsive (as in, the actual UI elements are slower to respond to and reflect changes in settings/options/filters) and unwieldy compared to the old one in a way that makes it cumbersome to use especially when you are trying to compare multiple options. |

Do you use incognito/private browsing mode? So far, I haven't been redirected to the new UI.

Typing ?f=0 before the # still works for me.. On my smartphone it works when connected to the wifi at home, but not when using mobile data. Cannot get the old UI from work. Seems like they're doing a slow/staged rollout, maybe. |
Legacy version is still working for me in regular mode
|
Further experimentation from work :)
flights.google.com/?f=0 redirects but gets the old UI ^ (www.)google.com/flights?f=0 gets the new UI :td: Incognito mode does not affect the above results. |
I was dismayed to see that the ?f=0 trick was no longer working this morning, on several different devices.
Pleased to see that it works using Incognito, which I hadn't thought of until visiting this page, but I can't imagine that will last long. I'm extremely disappointed in this new interface. I also find it quite surprising, coming from Google. They have generally emphasized simple but very functional design. This new interface is completely at odds with that. It's not at all simple, heavy on graphics and difficult to use. Nor can I see it being particularly useful to the non-FF crowd, because the interface is so clunky and it's so hard to figure out what's what. I'm baffled as to why they are forcing this garbage down our throats given its complete inconsistency with Google's general design philosophy (in addition to the fact that it's just plain crappy). |

Is it really inconsistent though? They've also recently updated Calendar (another UI change that I detest) and going further back, Maps (which I also dislike, but not as intensely :)) So it does at least appear to be part of a larger scale unification of look and feel (albeit a crappy one, also, #getoffmylawn :D)
Also, a semi-frequent flyer colleague of mine just stopped by my desk to ask a question about flights and mentioned that he thought Google Flights - which he has only used sparingly in the past - looked "a lot worse" and was "much less user-friendly" lately. |
Peak Google was about 5 years ago. |
Does not work for me anymore.
Incognito. Browsers other than Chrome. :( Edit: nevermind. It's back now. Not sure for how long. |
Seem to be closing the "loopholes"
Thanks for that.
At first it was easy - the running man. Then emulate IE10. Then the link - "google.com/flights/?f=0". Really, f%$@ Google flights. They had a good product and ruined it, and now seem to be systematically closing down any option to use the old, good interface. I guess this is what you can do when you're a monopoly. A very stupid monopoly.:mad:

Unfortunately I had a friend at Google tell me that they're turning down the old version. I can't get the f=SEL trick to work anymore and I think it's safe to say all traces of the usable version of Google Flights will be gone soon.
