Actually, I found such a button to go back to the old version! It's at the lower left of the window, all the way at bottom, and I use it all the time now:

^ but only until they take that away. I kept reverting the Calendar UI "upgrade" for as long as I could, but now no longer have the option to go back :(

I'm still bitter about Google Maps too :mad :o :D #getoffmylawn

Thank you a million!
I saw the icon but could not for my life believe a 'man running for the exit' was chosen as the symbol associated with 'switch to old ui'. But looking at the new ui, it is quite fitting!!!

I love that upgrade, they cap the alerts at 6 it seems. Best for finding those low fares!

Does anyone know of any tools with alerts that accept more than 6 origin/destinations? (Unfortunately ITA does not do alerts)

Thank you! Came here looking specifically for how to do this. The new UI precludes several of my favourite shortcuts, like typing the origin in the destination to get them to switch, which is useful when I have a list in one field. It looks fine, maybe better, but it requires too much clicking.

Brilliant! Thanks so much for this. The new UI is much too slow.

Amil Apr 1, 2018 12:37 am

i just wanted to say that i hate hate hate hate hate hate the new version.

fumje Apr 14, 2018 3:27 pm

The new version now has a filter for 'Overhead bin access' (i.e. non-Basic Economy). Too bad they hadn't done that before migrating to the new version.

ToneDaBass Apr 20, 2018 12:39 pm

It looks like you can no longer initiate tracking a flight in the classic version now, has anyone found a work-around for this other than tracking in the new version?

Just remember that delta allows an item in the overhead bin, so you will still see Delta fares in BE.

Anyone else notice that the little guy on the bottom that allowed you to use the classic UI has been removed? You can still access the classic version via the url for now

Yep, just noticed. It's only a matter of time before the classic URL redirects :(

azepine00 May 15, 2018 11:32 am

What is classic url?

Paella747 May 15, 2018 11:41 am

<<rant on>> Ohhhh God that new format is horrible. What's with all these giant boxes and dropdown menus that come and go, disappear, pop up, etc... I have to scroll down on my laptop just to see most of the flights. Giant images of information I don't need.... It's just so annoying.

I know that everybody is designing their websites to look good on iPads now, but good lord can't I just get all the information on one screen in a normal-sized font?!? And you kids get off my lawn, or I'm gonna give you a real what-for!!! <<rant off>>

(EDIT: just saw the post about the icon being removed :()

Here's the direct link to the classic interface:

https://google.com/flights/?f=0

I have this bookmarked and just go directly there :) Dreading the day when they remove this functionality.

EDIT #2 to add:

This is clunky and barely qualifies as a workaround, but once you have something you want to track, click into the URL field and edit it to remove the "f=0" part (may need to remove a leading/trailing & to make the rest of the URL parameters parse correctly). This will switch back to the "new Coke" interface but preserve all of the selected options/flights and then you can toggle tracking.

I was using the classic UI earlier this morning, but the little guy icon is gone for me as well. This is a huge bummer, as I find the classic UI faster/better for most everything (except eliminating basic economy fares).

rustykettel May 15, 2018 7:49 pm

Thank you Zorak! I forgot to bookmark the classic version before the running man was removed.

Current web design trends are awful.:td::td::td: The whole lot of them should be pushed out the door at FL100 without a chute.

Good Information! Thanks!

Strange one I noticed today: I am connected to a VPN. I've noticed that Google Flights (old view) will only return Easyjet flights from AMS-EDI when logged in to the VPN. When I disconnect it and refresh the search it shows up all the other flight options.

Anyone seen this before?

Interesting, I wonder if it is a POS/sales city issue?

On another note, I found the "separate ticket" function to no longer be working as well (at least for domestic US). I was trying to combine 2 one-way tickets on different carriers onto a single GF result using multi-city—just so I could send it to a friend easily—and it wouldn't show the return flight I found when searching one way even with "Show Separate Tickets" checked. Previously, I had no issue with this.

wco81 Jun 5, 2018 1:31 pm

I can't add any more tracked prices.

Says can't have more than 100.

Well I don't have 100 active ones. The only way it could be over 100 is if it's including "Past Tracked prices" in the 100 count.

Anyone else having this problem?

I never had to delete past tracked prices in the old version of GF.

rill2503456 Jun 6, 2018 5:46 pm

Old version of GF gone?

I was doing a search on GF earlier today and refreshed my page and it went over to the new version. Doesn't seem like the old one is accessible anymore (via the google.com/flights?f=0 link).

I guess it's time to say our farewells...

rill2503456 Jun 6, 2018 5:58 pm

Ah, it's back after briefly disappearing! I guess we're counting the days now....

Gone again. I think this is the end. I despise the new UI.

Zorak Jun 7, 2018 10:22 pm

I'm still getting the old UI, for now... tick tock

RunningforMiles Jun 8, 2018 6:08 am

That's a bummer, I find the new version takes longer to use

Aeclio Jun 10, 2018 4:16 am

Still possible to get the old interface. You can change SEL into any preferred airport code.

google.com/flights/?f=0#search;f=SEL

I got this to work once or twice this morning, but this evening I am persistently being redirected to the new interface :(

If anyone from the Google team is lurking here PLEASE reinstate the f=0 backdoor. The new interface is less responsive (as in, the actual UI elements are slower to respond to and reflect changes in settings/options/filters) and unwieldy compared to the old one in a way that makes it cumbersome to use especially when you are trying to compare multiple options.

Do you use incognito/private browsing mode? So far, I haven't been redirected to the new UI.

Typing ?f=0 before the # still works for me..

Incognito works for me on multiple devices from home.

On my smartphone it works when connected to the wifi at home, but not when using mobile data.

Cannot get the old UI from work.

Seems like they're doing a slow/staged rollout, maybe.

RunningforMiles Jun 13, 2018 9:47 am

Legacy version is still working for me in regular mode

Zorak Jun 13, 2018 11:10 am

Further experimentation from work :)

flights.google.com/?f=0 redirects but gets the old UI ^

(www.)google.com/flights?f=0 gets the new UI :td:

Incognito mode does not affect the above results.

Adam Smith Jun 13, 2018 11:36 am

I was dismayed to see that the ?f=0 trick was no longer working this morning, on several different devices.

Pleased to see that it works using Incognito, which I hadn't thought of until visiting this page, but I can't imagine that will last long.

I'm extremely disappointed in this new interface. I also find it quite surprising, coming from Google. They have generally emphasized simple but very functional design. This new interface is completely at odds with that. It's not at all simple, heavy on graphics and difficult to use. Nor can I see it being particularly useful to the non-FF crowd, because the interface is so clunky and it's so hard to figure out what's what.

I'm baffled as to why they are forcing this garbage down our throats given its complete inconsistency with Google's general design philosophy (in addition to the fact that it's just plain crappy).

Is it really inconsistent though? They've also recently updated Calendar (another UI change that I detest) and going further back, Maps (which I also dislike, but not as intensely :)) So it does at least appear to be part of a larger scale unification of look and feel (albeit a crappy one, also, #getoffmylawn :D)

The changes to the appearance - more blue and more colour in general - might not be inconsistent, but the complete emphasis of form over function does seem inconsistent to me.

Also, a semi-frequent flyer colleague of mine just stopped by my desk to ask a question about flights and mentioned that he thought Google Flights - which he has only used sparingly in the past - looked "a lot worse" and was "much less user-friendly" lately.

wco81 Jun 13, 2018 3:37 pm

Peak Google was about 5 years ago.

Repooc17 Jun 13, 2018 7:56 pm

Does not work for me anymore.

Incognito. Browsers other than Chrome.

:(

Edit: nevermind. It's back now. Not sure for how long.

dand99 Jun 14, 2018 1:41 am

Seem to be closing the "loopholes"

Thanks for that.

At first it was easy - the running man. Then emulate IE10. Then the link - "google.com/flights/?f=0".
Really, f%$@ Google flights. They had a good product and ruined it, and now seem to be systematically closing down any option to use the old, good interface.

I guess this is what you can do when you're a monopoly. A very stupid monopoly.:mad:

rill2503456 Jun 14, 2018 4:41 pm

Unfortunately I had a friend at Google tell me that they're turning down the old version. I can't get the f=SEL trick to work anymore and I think it's safe to say all traces of the usable version of Google Flights will be gone soon.
