I need to replace my averatec 1050-ew1, which has been a great traveling laptop for the last 3 years. I have used it so much that its keyboard is beginning to wear out. Normally I only get 2 years out of a laptop so 3 years has been a great run. I really like this notebook and haven't found anything on the current market that compares to it. Here are the things I really like:
- small lightweight system 10.6 inch screen
- Great battery life I get about 4 hours per battery
- had DVD RW
- Reasonable performance with 2gb of memory, pentium processor and 80gb hard drive runs windows XP
- Reasonable cost of $1000

New netbooks seem to have the right weight and form factor, but lack DVD and performance. Other light wieght laptops with DVD seem relatively expensive. I have previous used sony viaos and fujitsu P series lifebooks but neither offer the price performance or durability of the averatec. Anyone have suggestions or experiences. Thanks...
