something in BlackBerry access data while traveling

Ever since T-mobile started to charge for international data some BB application accesses the internet about every hour and a half.

The only external applications (that in theory are disabled0 are google maps and wall streeT journal app.

Any ideas on how to track it down?

It is costing me $65 a month!

Just a though: Do you have any reason anybody would be interesting in installing a spying tool on your phone?

Spying tools like this would cause unexpected data transfers when they "call home":

Go to "Options," "Security," "Firewall," and make sure the firewall is enabled. Then step through the applications list in "Options," "Advanced Options," "Applications" and change the "Internet" permissions for all applications to "Prompt." The next time this unknown application attempts to access the internet, it should make itself known

Alternately, you can simply turn your Data connection off in "Options," "Mobile Network," "Data Services." It won't help you figure out which application is accessing the internet, but it will prevent it from doing so.

If you have "my location" turned on in google maps, that might be the culprit. Read the help info - communicates with google servers in an effort to, "improve" accuracy.

I would guess they're correlating gps and cell tower data in the background.
