Anyone try this out yet?

I downloaded and installed it on an old machine and it seems pretty slick, however the machine is so old and slow a bunch of the new fancy effects don't work on it. :o

Overall I am much more satisfied with Windows 7 than I was with Vista at the time when I first installed the beta of that.

I am getting a little tired of my switch to the Mac OS I must say and Windows 7 is a welcome improvement to the Windows family that I will keep my eye on.

What is your source all about new Windows 7? Is that PC or Mac? :confused: Can you please give me more information where you were found out brand new windows 7?

Things that don't work well yet:

iTunes had to be installed using Vista compatability mode
Admuncher doesn't work
Sometimes when I right click on an item on the desktop, the machine freezes for about 5 minutes
It seems like Windows tends to forget my desktop settings

Other than that it's not bad, not earth shattering, but not bad.

The beta seems to have been removed from the MS site!

Yup. Due to to "overwhelming demand" they had to pull it while they increase server capacity.

I've been using this on my IBM x61t tablet for about a month now, it seems to be snappier, some things work better, some don't. I installed on a seperate partition though, with a ghost of my current vista business image. AccessConnections doesn't work too well from thinkvantage, but the W7 wireless connection works even better!

Windows 7 is basically the real Vista release (remember that MS had to pull a bunch of content out of Vista when it couldn't make the development schedule) and there are almost no architectural changes from Vista -- making compatibility a much smaller issue. MS could have shipped it as a fixpack for Vista, but that doesn't generate the same revenue or press as Win7. It does make for a polished product, even in beta.

Aren't they still working on SP2 for Vista?

Has anyone tried installing it in Virtual PC?

That too. Before I switched to Windows 7, I had SP2 on my Vista machine. It can be found online and really did help improve Vista in several areas.

I may try that. I know I shouldn't do it, but I'm tempted to install it on my primary laptop, so at least I can test it a bit.

I heard that I saw new IE 8, am I correct? Should I need downloadable new Windows 7? :confused:

You are absolutely right. MS should ship it as Vista's fixpack. Miscrosoft couldn't care less about how their Vista customers have been screwed.:mad:

I'm running it on my primary laptop right now and it's great. Takes a little getting used to, but it feels quicker and sharper. Took about 45-60 mins to install.

Great job! I will looking forward to seeing brand new Windows 7. So should I allows to downloadable Windows 7? :confused: I will rather try to do that for me. I will ask my friends' permission to let me downloads tomorrow. I will find out if I will hear anything more new testing will be completely done.

I you download the beta, just be prepared to burn a DVD. The instructions on the site are very good, but it is likely that you will need to download a program that will correctly burn an ISO file to DVD.

It's not hard, but just a surprising extra step.

Can you please explaining to me more information how exactly I can wait for downloadable for more than 45 minutes, am I correct? So I will asks my friends by tomorrow on the phone. I really appreciated it for your efforts but, I will wait to see if my brother to have says something for me. Then I will let you know by tomorrow.

MSFT seems to have heard the users and made "7" more like Server 2008 in workstation mode.

I like it, but I still think that it won't be enough to stop people "escaping" to Mac OS X and the different *nix flavors.

I like that extra step, it's like an IQ test to prevent people from just going ahead and installing it when they don't know what they are doing :D

Then they shouldn't have made the instructions so easy. :)

I've noticed that W7 has bricked my volume, mute and DVD eject buttons on the front of my Vaio TT, and I also haven't fixed the Bluetooth drivers yet, but all else seems to be going swimmingly.

Presumably you need some Sony drivers to use those buttons. AFAIK those aren't standard interfaces and thus the manufacturer needs to provide a driver.

Yeah - I think you're right. I emailed Sony tech support, and they pretty much told me to go to hell.

Shot an email to Cierge, but I assume she'll be equally ineffective. I think Dell has been much more proactive about working with this beta.

All that said, the issues I've encountered so far are deal-able, since the performance is so much better. And I lurve the behavior of the new toolbar on the bottom. Even the simple things, like the very simple wireless icon in the system tray - which is actually useful *and* legible - make me happy.

And I know this is going to call me out as a civilian loser, but I'm running Norton for antivirus, and after a double Norton Removal, it's running great.

The Vista driver should work - a big part of Win7 is making sure that Vista compatible stuff in most areas doesn't break.

Yeah - unfortunately, this is where my limited expertise ends (and I was hoping Sony would help) - I can't find where to access that driver.

Sonys are usually packed full of proprietary and unusual stuff, but everything else (touchpad, webcam, SSD, display, biometric scanner) seems to be working. Strange. I was going to get the Vaio P also, but this experience is going to delay that until Sony gets with W7.

okay - after 80 bajillion crashes last night when I was using Word 2007, I'm thinking maybe it's better to wait for the full release. :)

Yeah, I think you will wait for full-release will be completely done. They will tell you when they are releases newest Windows 7. It should be wait for awhile until Beta testing will be consider it done. Then you can purchase new version Windows 7 is coming in the store. So please be patient for awhile when they are in progress.

I found a VMware appliance http://www.tuxdistro.com/torrents.php?cat=442 with Windows 7 loaded. I'll have to wait for it to finish downloading to give any impressions, but I prefer to VM.

How did you figure out more information from Windows 7 Beta? So when the testing will be completely done sometimes in couple months later. I will keep aware to reading more information from MS. I think that I should downloading brand new Windows 7? I was pretty confident where I can see the beta testing is in progress to needs more new program and etc. So otherwise, I can't installed with new AOL Classic into Windows 7 yet? Can you please give me more source for giving me more new information.

Just wondering, do they only have 1 version of the Windoes 7 Beta and it covers all language (ie. there are no Chinese Windows 7?)

Can you upgrade to that with XP?

For the Beta version, how does it work when a full version is released? Is there a set time you are allowed to use and will get forced to upgrade?

I'm pretty sure they'll time-bomb it so that it is no longer functional at some point in the future. I believe they did the same thing with Vista. No idea about the languages, but I'd guess that it is English-only for now.

At this stage I would expect only English is available. Later on in the prerelease phase (Release Candidate time), you should see RCs available in the more popular languages (there are a few of these - Japanese and German come to mind if I remember right), and then within some number of months of release (not sure offhand) all of the languages are usually available.

As far as expiry - it's time bombed. This may actually be in the desktop watermark in the lower right, but if I remember right the codepath for this lets you know it's expired in the form of a specific blue screen.

I downloaded Win7 Beta and the key. After reading how to dual boot, I decided to pass on this golden opp to provide MS with free R/D.

No. I don't need upgrade from XP because I getting rid of old computer from 2 years ago. Because I had been problesm with my old computer has been gotten viruses then it the computer is crashes. I am already brought new computer at home from summer 2007. It was Windows Vista. I am really like it lot.

No, they doesn't have installed new Chinese languages with windows 7 yet.

Still going rock solid. I'm finally used to the new taskbar, and I'm liking it a lot.

Of course, still a couple of rogue apps that don't play nicely with it.

The MS site said the 32 bit was available in English, German, Arabic, Hindi, Japanese. 64 bit is the same except no Hindi.
