Can you upgrade to that with XP?

For the Beta version, how does it work when a full version is released? Is there a set time you are allowed to use and will get forced to upgrade?

According to the FAQ:

Upgrade to Win7 beta from XP = No
Set time allowed to use it = Yes. It expires on August 1, 2009.
What happens then =

To continue using your PC, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before the expiration date. You won't be able to upgrade from the Beta to the final retail version of Windows 7.

Are you sure about Windows 7 will be full releases sometimes on August 1, 2009, am I correct? When the beta testing will be completely done? I will wait to see if I can hear any more new information from MS. I will let you know soon as possible. I should to have being patience for awhile. So otherwise, I won't able downloading Windows 7 beta for this time.

You can extend the trial period from 30 to 120 days...instructions here.

No, the full version will not be available in August. But this beta will time bomb then and no longer function.

Has anyone run LR2, Ps CS3 or PsCS4? What's your impression of performance and its handling of large files?
I plan to wait till full version is released.

After experiencing Vista, the beta sounds too risky. I plan to switch to Vista first in 2012.

Vista to Win7 upgrade = crashing with an uptime under 2 min.
Clean Win7 install = running OK

Detected all of the hardware in my fairly-new Dell laptop except the Video card immediately - the video card (Quadro NVS130M) initially was missed but got picked up on my first actual reboot - I'm not sure if Windows update was involved or not.

Don't like some of the UI changes or the new taskbar/notification area, but otherwise it's not bad. Since I couldn't get the upgrade to go (and lost a bunch of time to a restore from backup), it's on a spare HD and I have not had much time to play with it.

I've just installed Win7 on my Lenovo S10 - installation could not have been easier. I popped it onto a USB drive and had the full install completed in about 30 minutes.

The Lenovo (1.6GHz/160GB/1.5GB) runs perfectly. I did not have to install a single driver myself, and even Bluetooth works as it should.

I'm still running into too many apps on Win7 that don't work, so MS clearly changed a lot under the hood...

What apps?

They don't work at all, or they won't install?

ScottC Jan 26, 2009 7:14 pm

I gave up. Too much stuff that simply does not work, and too many things that should work but don't.

Back to Vista for me :D

The list is endless. Admuncher, Nero, Epson printer software, photo resize apps etc...

I put up with as much as I could, but in the end when I can't even print stuff it just becomes too much.

I apply that same logic to the 2nd degree, and still run XP. :D

And you guys call yourselves nerds. Pffft! :p

I hope you used the crap out of the "send feedback" button, and sent your complaints to the people that make this software, or this stuff isn't gonna get fixed.
