Ok, what did I do wrong this time? Connection issue

As a # of you know I have AOL on my computer; been using it since '95. The journalists know it. It works for me, so I've kept it. Ok, that's out of the way.

Most of the time I just log into my account, but there are times when I want to check my email but not actually log into the full version because a couple of clients have me as a buddy/can see me on AIM. Usually that's not a problem, but there are times when I'm doing work, don't want to be IM'd (they assume that because I'm logged in that I'm available to drop everything & respond to them), so just clicking on IE, and then typing http://aolmail.aol.com lets me check my email/send etc, but keeps me 'hidden' from the AIM/IM portion.

Been that way for ages, including even yesterday when I did it. Today, I try to access it & get a internet explorer can't open that webpage message. Now obviously I'm connected to the internet so it's not a connection per se problem.

But I finally clicked on the diagnostic, and received the following message:

"aolmail.aol.com is not set up to establish a connection on port world wide web service HTTP with this computer"

So what I did I do wrong/why did it change from yesterday to today, and how do I get it sorted out? Any input appreciated.

Cheers.

Since I have an aol email for web sites, I tried your link and it didn't work for me. (I didn't know that url.) However, when I need to get mail from the Web instead of downloading, I've been going to aol.com and clicking on the mail sign-in icon, which works every time.

Have always used the above link I mentioned, but it didn't work today. However, trying your method got me to what the other link always brought me to - ie, email w/o being 'visible', so that will work.

Now - dif question - what's a Acai Berry Warning? I was afraid to click on it figuring my luck I'd download a virus!

Cheers.

I use this link to go direct to the AOL mail site. This link redirects immediately to another address (below) for your login.

Good luck!

Apparently AOL is trying to warn you of a scam.

A bit ironic considering the reputation AOL used to have regarding folks trying to cancel accounts.

Strange but true.
