UE vs Shure

Hello all,

Tried searching but cannot seem to find it. I have owned a number of Shure IEMs and found that they are great - E3c, E4c, SE530. The only problem I have with the Shures are the wires that goes above my ear, almost always gets frayed after 6 months of use. Bear in mind, I use it everyday, 70mins to/from work on the subway, about 4 hours at work, and when I go for a workout. So I am a heavy user and I understand that.

However, I have heard that UE's top of the line model, has replaceable cables for $20. Can anyone verify this? If so, I might just switch to UE since warranties do not last forever.

Thanks

I know in the past many of the UE's have replaceable cables. Not all of them do though. The Tripe Fi's and most of the Super Fi's I have seen have replaceable cables. I can't say for certain that this information is up to date, it's been a while since I used UE's. When I owned a pair the replacement cable was like $20, $30 for the extra long cable.

Confirmed
I have a pair of UE11Pros (LOVE THEM, by the way -- best 'phones I've ever listened to), and yes, they do have removable / replaceable cables. In fact, the standard cable that comes with these IEMs is perfectly long enough to comfortably go from your head (ears) to your waist (belt pack receiver). With the cable coming from around your back, it's a bit short to let you hold your music player out in front of you...make sure to get the longer cable if you want to put your music player a bit further from your body (like, say, in the seat back pocket).

Just check their website -- it's got all the information you need.

Travel Tech is a great source of info, but when I'm ready to buy I try to check out head-fi.org forums just in case there's news from the headphone/IEM obsessives.
Just in case there's a great deal that these guys pounce on. Often there will be a deal on Amazon, so it might be worth a look in case some retailer is having a sale.

Good luck!
