Skype on BB Wi-Fi
I've tried searching through old threads to see if I could figure this out from existing responses, but couldn't quite figure it out.
I am looking to upgrade my BB and am thinking of the 8120 for use on AT&T's network. I don't travel internationally all that often, but when I do would like to be able to use one phone if possible and avoid hotel connection charges to use a calling card. Due to security restrictions, my work-issued laptop isn't able to run Skype or any other VOIP software.
If I have Skype loaded on my BB, and that BB is connected to the internet via a WiFi connection, is it possible to make SkypeOut calls without incurring mobile phone minutes at int'l roaming rates or even int'l roaming data rates?
Thanks for any help anyone can provide!

I tried a Skype client (iSkoot) on my BB and all it did was crash my device. Skype's own client may be better, though.

Skype will run on some nokia wifi phones as will truphone voip. I'd look into that for free calling while abroad.

There is no Skype client for the Blackberry. And iskoot is not skype. It just lets you place calls via a landline gateway. Which maybe useful from your home calling area but useless when roaming.

I second the suggestion to look at the 8320 and T-Mobile service. I had been a long time at&t /Cingular customer and switched to T-Mobile on a 30-day trial. With their "my favs" package you can call five numbers which don't come out of your plan minutes, and the WiFi connection at home I don't come close to using my plan minutes.
I was skeptical about T-Mobile's coverage area until I was in San Jose and a co-worker on at&t was not able to get calls in the Convention Center, and I had no issues.
I've read on some forums that when you are out of the country but on Wi-Fi you are not charged any roaming for your calls. On Wi-Fi it does use your cell plan minutes (unless you have the @home option, when any Wi-Fi calls are unbilled).
