MS Direct Push and HTML mail on Windows Mobile 6

Running Exchange 2003 on Server 2003. Windows Mobile 6 devices have no problem using the HTML mail feature with POP/IMAP connections, but the option to change the message type is greyed out and set to text in the Outlook account when Direct Push is configured.

Can any of you WM6 / Direct Push users out there confirm that this is "by design" for WM6 Direct Push connections to Exchange 2003? I'm not about to boost the Exchange 2007 upgrade plans because of something as minor as lack of HTML mail.

HTML email does, indeed, require Exchange 2007.

Can one enable the IMAP support on Exchange 2003 server and just use that? I'm quite happy with my AT&T Tilt using IMAP. So what if I only get my email every five minutes....

Yes. However, overall, our Direct Push testers have claimed that battery life lasts longer now than when they were checking via IMAP (some every 2 mins, others every 5).
