Cell Phone Do Not Call

sorry, I have just been informed this is a hoax:

http://www.snopes.com/politics/business/cell411.asp

Cell phone numbers going public tomorrow

REMINDER....all cell phone numbers are being released
to telemarketing companies tomorrow and you will start
to receive sale calls.

.....YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS

To prevent this, call the following number from your
cell phone:

....888-382-1222.

It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take
a minute of your time
It blocks your number for five (5) years. You must
call from the cell phone number you want to have
blocked. You cannot call from a different phone
number.

one can also register here:

But, if you registered your phones when the do not call list came out...It is time to do it again...DNC only lasts 5 years and it started almost 5 years ago.

I heard something interesting the other day related to this that I wasn't aware of before but certainly explains why I get almost no calls even from non profits or places I already do business with (have only a cell phone): it's against federal law to use autodialers to call cell phones. The story I was listening to was actually about political campaigns and particularly pollsters being afraid of all the people going cell-only. They mentioned this bit and how they have to dial those calls live because it's illegal to use the autodialer on them.

Pretty good trick, really. Zero calls from banks, etc. even though they have my real cell number and I already do business with them.
