Saving Map Route on iPhone
Just wondering if it is possible to save the Route/Directions on the iPhone so one can review when driving but no Wi-Fi or EDGE coverage?

Save the directions as a plan text file (.txt file name extension). Select "Enable disk use" in your iPod preferences (iPod options, lower right corner of iTunes window). Close iTunes; iPod will appear as an external storage device. Open it and you'll see folders for Notes, Calendars, etc. Drag the file to the Notes folder. Then, read it with the Notes reader (Extras>Notes).
Limitations: no graphics, size of a text file cannot exceed 4KB. If your directions are longer, split them into as many under-4KB files as needed. There's also a limit of 1,000 text files, but that's unlikely to be a problem here.

Isn't the iPhone a computer that will run applications like Michelin Maps or something similar for the Linux platform?
Granted, it doesn't have GPS, but for that kind of money, it seems like it should at least be able to run the equivalent of Pocket Streets.

For some reason I read "iPhone" as "iPod." Sorry about that!
Don't know about iPhone, don't have one to check, but you ought to be able to pull up maps in the browser and keep them around somehow. Just a guess.
(If anyone needs to save directions or any other text to an iPod - not iPhone - please see post #2 above.)
