New screening rules for electronics

Knowing that many folks in this forum carry lots of gadgets, you might want to check the discussions in the AA and Travel Safety/Security forums on the new TSA screening for electronics.

From the looks of it, flying is becoming even more of a hassle, if that's possible.

The agency also clarified an earlier press release to say that small electronic items, such as cell phones, MP3 players, iPods and portable video game systems do not have to be removed from their carrying cases.

Unfortunately, the word has not gotten out to the hinterlands of the TSA world. What screeners are doing in some locations is different from what is posted on the website.
