Help! Missing modem

My laptop was having multiple issues, so attempted to re-boot the system.
First, used Darik's Boot and Nuke, then re-installed Windows using the Operating system CD that came with my computer.
Now, I can't get on the internet (we have antiquated dial up). I get a message that a modem is not installed, no modem is detected.
So, where did it go? How do I get it back?
Is there another CD I should have that re-installs the modem when the laptop is re-booted?

You should have another CD that has the drivers for your laptop. Otherwise, download the drivers, etc, from the manufacturer's website or ask them to send you a CD. You might check device manager to see if it shows up there.

Wirelessly posted (Nokia E61i: Mozilla/5.0 (SymbianOS/9.1; U; en-us) AppleWebKit/413 (KHTML, like Gecko) Safari/413 es61i)

Right click on My Computer, go to Hadware and check for devices with yellow exclamation marks. Those are devices that require drivers.

But, you still need the disk with the drivers if you can't get on-line..

BTW, which Windows? If XP, you might find the drivers by going to

Start...My Computer...C Drive....Windows...System 32..Drivers (then you need to find correct driver for your modem)

Thank you all for the help!
I have Windows XP Professional.
I did discover I had another disk that has the drivers for my laptop.
So, I will attempt to get the modem re-installed.
Meanwhile, I learned that the HP website also has downloadable modem software for my laptop.
Hopefully, won't have more tech issues before I can afford to replace this computer!
