Anyone know of a PDF reader that does thumbnails/previews?
Like Picasa but for PDFs.
Sure get tired of the old open and close

Try Scansoft, er, Nuance's PaperPort software. It's not free or open source (haven't looked for one yet) but it shows thumbnails of a lot of formats including PDF:

http://www.nuance.com/paperport/
"PaperPort simplifies things. It's the best tool available to make your all-in-one device or scanner easier and more efficient to use. It enhances Microsoft Windows with large clear thumbnails of over 150 document and photo formats. Now you can easily print, organize and share all your documents."

I used it a while back to help get more organized and go paperless in the home office. uh it worked for a while but then the paper piled up faster than I could scan and shred it!

My Win XP shows thumbnails of PDF in folders that I've set to "Thumbnails".
But is that only because I've got the full Adobe Acrobat, not just the reader?

No, it isn't. I also have the full Acrobat 8 Pro, however, I believe Acrobat Reader 8 now comes with this feature.

Is there another program (not Acrobat) that will open PdFs and let you cut and paste from the PdF to a word processor ?

FoxIT PDF

It is very fast and the footprint is small. When you want to view a PDF it is almost instantaneous.
