Airlines require the Visa being in hand when checking in?
If you are traveling with US passport to a country requiring Visa-upon checking in in the US, does the airline require you to have your valid Visa in hand alsonfg with your US passport?

You'll certainly get more quality answers to this question if you post it in a forum that deals with the country that you're travelling to.

If visa on arrival is possible, no. If you absolutely aren't getting in that country without a visa then the airline wont let you on the plane without a visa.
They have the actual document requirements that the airlines use from the IATA on-line here. Should answer any questions.

Same answer you got in the AA forum. You MUST have appropriate docs in hand which the agent will check. If the BP does not say "DOCS OK" you don't get on the plane.

The agent ought to check for it and mostly do; however, they don't always check and some who check check incorrectly.
