GPS users...

Just wanted to let all you GPS users out there know that TomTom is having a promo where they are giving the most up to date, quality maps from Tele Atlas for free to 510, 910 and ONE owners. Definitely take advantage of this offer before it ends on March 1, the map upgrades usually run about $200 or more.

Ordered mine when the unit came a couple weeks ago, said six to eight weeks, the disk arrived a few days later.

Incredibly fast shipping.

Is TelAtlas part of the base map set for TomTom or do they ship with something else?

go to the Tom Tom support site (tomtom.com). You put in your device code and they tell you if you qualify for the "free" (6.00 shipping) map update. You probably DO NOT have the new map.

Yep TomTom uses Tele Atlas for all of its maps with the exception of the RIDER which uses NAVTEQ maps. The new maps include 410,000 miles of new roads in the US and Canada and six million POIs which is really great. If you bought a TT 910, ONE or 510 during the Xmas holidays you would have really been getting a great deal b/c all of those products were $100 until the beginning of January and then they are having the free map upgrade on top of that.

The new maps are version 6.5, check to see if that's what you have. There's information on their front page, and they send an e-mail about it today.

While you are busy visiting TomTom, be sure to check whether your device wasn't sold with a virus on it...
