I just got a new RAZR V3t with EDGE support to replace my V3 which is only GPRS. I use it as a wireless modem with my laptop.
So far the speed tests have come out at 25-35 kbps, which is still GPRS, not EDGE. T-Mobile of course says that it all depends on wher you are and how heavily the network is loaded etc. etc.

Same as the OP; you need to be on a "full" data plan and need to be sure that the access point it changed. Also, make sure that if you use Bluetooth that the serial port speed of the Bluetooth virtual port is set as high as the phone will go.

Well, I just got off the phone first with T-Mobile and then with Motorola.
T-Mobile claims that the RAZR V3t cellphone does not support EDGE, but because I've had it since January 3, which is a few days longer than the 14-day "buyer remorse" period, they won't take it back.
The Moto web site says that the phone does support EDGE, and the Moto Data Customer Support Rep confirmed that it supports EDGE.
I have the unlimited data plan, which I've had for a year, and I got only GPRS speeds with the V3 I used last year, but I "upgraded" to the V3t based on the Moto web site, plus oral representations from the T-Mobile rep three weeks ago that it supports EDGE. Of course, I have nothing in writing from him, and the T-Mobile web site is silent on the subject.

Scott,
I just bought an unlocked HTC TyTN and am using the SIM from my Tmo Dash. In the Dash I would almost always have the E symbol but with the TyTN, all I ever get is the G symbol. Would your tweaks that you discussed earlier work? For right now, I cannot connect to the web unless I am at a Tmo Hotspot. I have the Tmo full internet access plan.
Thanks in advance!
Dave

The TyTN doesn't support the "E" icon, so even though you will have EDGE you won't see it's icon.

Scott,
Another question regarding the TyTN. On the today screen, I have the triangle for roaming even though it should not be roaming and it is only on the today screen. Should it be there as I don't have it when using my Tmo Dash?

I finally got my EDGE/GPRS service to my TyTN by using a post from another website that directed me to T-Mobile configuration instruction screen. I made the changes and it now works so that I can finally use the T-Mobile Total Internet Service that I am paying for. One correction from Scott's note from above, the access point should be internet2.voicestream.com per the instruction sheet.

Thanks Scott, I will try the internet3 APN. I did notice that while in London, I had to switch the network from Auto to one of the GSM/UTMS selections to get service on my phone. Back in the states, I switched back to auto to get local coverage.
