Headset adapter for airplane use
Does anyone know where in the Chicago area I can pick up what is commonly referred to as an "airplane adapter". You plug your personal headset into the adapter and then plug the adapter into the airplane's "entertainment system" socket on your airplane seat armrest. Then you can use your own headset instead of the filthly thing you can get on the airplane.
Several places sell it online (Radio Shack and several other places) but I don't have enough time to wait. Thanks!

dont know where to buy them in chicago specifically.. but hit the flee market.
or chinatown.. you may find it there..
i just have a few left over from some of the international trips...
i use those and my own headsets

My PlaneQuiet headphones came with this double pronged adapter that they said I would need.... I've never used it.
All the airplanes I've flown in recently use the 1/8" mini-plug that is standard on most headphones. The only exception was last year when I was on Cathay-Pacific and they use the 1/4" style. A friend and I went looking in Hong Kong for the proper adapter and did find one, so I added that to my bag.

My Bose QC 1s and 2s came with them. I've needed to use it on airlines like CO, though UA doesn't require them. I suspect that, if you can't find one anywhere else, you'd be able to buy it at the airport at one of those shops that sells electronics.
