iPAQ Dead. Ideas?

My iPAQ hx4700 is quite dead this evening. Either it is comprehensively broken or just lacking in power but either way I can't revive it. I don't see why there would be a power issue as the main battery was over 50% when I last switched it on three days ago. However, both soft and hard reset have no effect. I don't have the mains charger with me, only USB and this fails to give any indication of starting/charging the device. I'm out of ideas :-(.

Well fortunately, I managed to find someone (in Fiji, who just happens to work for HP) with one of the new smart phones and a compatible charger and all is now looking quite well.

My hx4700 did come on once in a while when connected to the USB port but never for long enough for me to get it to charge through USB (not the default setting).

I've had this happen to me too with other WM devices. Seems to be related to the voltage required to charge the mains.
