Wireless Router for Dial-up Connection

Just wondering, my mate has bought a new laptop, but is still using dial up and is not wanting to pay for broadband.

Is there anyway he can connect something, eg. a router or gateway, to his phoneline to enable him to wirelessly dial-up to the Internet?

Netgear has one that should work: their model FR328S.

But he'll need to hookup an external modem to it.

But by far the easiest solution would be the Apple Airport, which has a 56k modem built in: http://www.apple.com/airportextreme/

I did this before. I don't remember the wirless router I had, either US Robotics or Linksys. Anyway, there was an option to connect to a modem that acts as backup if the DSL is down. I just used the backup option exclusively until DSL finally was available in my area.

There are also these Bluetooth wireless modems:

I use that Zoom Bluetooth 56K Wireless Modem when I go to a location where I know phone lines will be my only access to the internet. It's extremely small and has great range.
