iMac improvement? When?
Hello Apple users,
I am just curious when apple will improve the iMac again. I mean it's quite strange that the new MacBookPro's have better processors (2,16 GHz) than the iMac (2Ghz). It can't be to difficult to upgrade to processor speed and the grafic card in a non portable mac. What do you think? Any insides?
Cheers

keep an eye on this site,

but the general thinking is the imac will update round August. Just before the school season. Could be announce in July.
Probably simply get the faster CPU's, maybe the upgraded harddrive, something else.

This handy page http://buyersguide.macrumors.com/ tells you when each model was last released and gives an average number of days in the product's life cycle. iMac is mid-cycle, released in January with an average around 6 months. IMO, likely to be updated before the end of the year, but could be anytime within that time frame. I would guess August, for some reason.
With the Intel processors maybe they will be inclined to tweak the speed a little more often as new updates come out, but there's no guarantee that will happen. A few tweaks have happened with the MacBook Pros, but those are the pro machines vs the iMac and they would be more concerned about getting the pro machines faster.
EDIT: Heh, was there really that much gap? I was called away for a few minutes. I really didn't see that next post before I wrote this.

Apple may wait for the next revision of the Intel Core processor (I want to say Conroe) which is due this summer before they update the iMac.
Since all I want my 13" Macbook for is portability, I am not so worried about what's under the hood. I'll wait for the PowerMac tower to get the "full meal deal" in terms of maximum performance.
