exporting emails from Outlook

I know you can export email addresses from the contacts folder in Outlook, but Im looking for help in capturing the emails that are collected in the "memory" that Outlook creates (and appear automatically) when you start typing an email address in the "To... " bar. These are addresses that you commonly use to send or reply to even though they may not be part of the addresses in your Contacts folder.

Is there any way to capture all those addresses in some form of automatic way?

Thanks in advance for any help with this.

You need to copy the .pst file and burn it to a portable memory tool. Then import it on the new machine using Outlooks import tool. Either search for the .pst file on your c drive or look in the outlook options and find where your mail file is located.

Thanks for your reply. My goal is not to export these addresses onto another machine, what I want to achieve is to get all those addresses onto an excel spreadsheet and save my need to type them one by one. I thought of cutting and pasting them from the " To... " bar, but the problem there is that each email address is sometimes garbled with the title or header name and what I want is the pure email address only.

Just to clarify, its not about the addresses I have already as individual contacts in my contacts folder, its about all the other emails that are in that "quick-type" memory that Im dealing with here.

many thanks
Gaucho

The autocomplete cache is stored in a *.nk2 file at C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. You can delete the file to start fresh or use the arrow keys (as you are typing addresses in the fields) to select an address and use the Delete key to remove it.

I wonder how it would work if you export the *.nk2 file to your new computer.

If you do a Google search for "outlook nickname cache" or "outlook automatic completion cache", it only talks about removing the file. Maybe some more clicking on Google will find an answer?

Thanks!!! Ive now gotten a little closer to where I want to get. Ive been able to generate a file where all those email addresses are stored, problem is that its garbled with tons of other stuff. There appear to be a number of freeware programs out there that extract or process these files and clean out the garbage, but I cant seem to download them and get them to work.... I think Im getting corrupted files down since I cant run them.

Anybody else have tips....?

Sorry, no tips...all I can say is that it's a pain to do anything with Outlook from a transfer/import/export perspective...
