Between this and the whining problem I think it is safe to say Apple's oh-so-super high quality is taking a bit of a blow...
If this exploding power connector turns out to be an issue requiring a recall then they are in for a real problem...

I read in one of the blog comments that a cat peed on the connector? Is that true? If that's what happened, I'm not sure how fault lies with Apple.
If it is poor manufacturing, then it's definitely not welcome news for Apple. Sounds like Apple took troubleshooting the problem in the pictures pretty seriously and had people looking into the issue before the owner even contacted Apple. IMHO, it's nice to see a company being proactive ^

Nevertheless; even if it is cat urine; no amount of liquid should be able to cause that much damage, the power supply should have sufficient protection to simply shut down, not set itself on fire.
