Samsung D307, Thoughts

A friend of mine is looking at this for use on Cingular's network. Any thoughts?

My suggestion to her was get a TREO but don't think she digs that. Will not be used where EDGE service is available-rural NC.

Thanks

For someone who just wants to text, I think the Treo is massive overkill and comes with too many compromises (low audio, etc). If she doesn't need the Palm side of things, it ain't worth it. I still think the best text-demon phone ever made is the Nokia 6800. Sure it's big, old and ugly but it's durable and just plain works. The 6820 is smaller, but not as robust. I have no experience with the d307 but have been happy with Samsung phones as a whole. EDGE really isn't necessary from a phone standpoint. It makes MMS faster but overall just isn't a big deal unless you're doing web browsing and email which a cellphone can't do fast enough to overwhelm GPRS much less edge..
