Question Orbitz access blocked.

For the past 3 weeks I have been blocked from getting access to the Orbitz.com site on my laptop. I can access Orbitz on 2 desktops networked in my home, but not my laptop, which is what I take on the road. When I type Orbitz.com into my browser window (either IE or Firefox) the windows closes. It also closes if I do a Yahoo or Google search for Orbitz. I've scanned for viruses and spyware, but nothing is detected. I've turned off my firewall (Zone Alarm) and still can't access Orbitz. This started 3 weeks ago when I was comparison shopping for a hotel room. I had several browser windows open and when I went to switch to Orbitz from another site, I could no longer get into Orbitz. When I type Orbitz into the browser window it appears to start to load, then the window closes. Anyone else experiencing this or know how to solve the problem? Thanks.

This must be the free support forum

I think this thread is better suited for Travel Technology

But your first post in FT is about network issues, well, I guess it's Orbitz, so it must be travel related

Take a look at the Hosts file in C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc
If you find the orbitz address there, remove the line where it appears.

I would make sure you blow out all your temp internet files and cookies. Orbitz (and Expedia too I believe) is pretty notorious for its cookies to keep you from finding that great fare again if you wander away.

I had a similar, but different problem with orbitz. I sent them an email. they answered with the correct solution within 24 hours.

Orbitz is orbitz b ecause orbitz is smart. their people are a different breed of cat than the idiots at airline and hotel sites(UA & starwood for example)

Their approach to customer service leaves more to be desired than their -- at least "historical" -- approach to technology, right?

Do you have a pop-up blocker? If so is it possible that Orbitz is listed as one of the sites to ban? Their pop-up's also come up as just orbitz.com, so if you added the pop-up to your banned list with your blocker software, it would not notice the difference and kill the main window as well.

I had this problem before with Firefox. It was my pop-up blocker.
