Orlando
Hi, can anyone recommend any decent stores where I'll be able to purchase a digital camara while I'm there on holiday. I'm hoping someone can share their knowledge of the area to help me out. Thanks for any advice.

It's a VERY touristy area down here, and there are a LOT of tourist trap retail stores that sell very nice equipment, but not at the best prices. My recommendation would be to go to a Best Buy or Circuit City, as they will have better prices than the smaller tourist traps on I-Drive or 192.
What part of town will you be staying in?

Now you're asking...
I'm having nothing to do with this holiday in any sort of organisation capacity. I'm just turning up at the airport and trusting it's sorted, it's great!
I think we're staying the same place we did 8 years ago or so. Buena vista I think, like the film distribution company (the only reason I recall it). Touristy yes, but then my folks don't seem to mind, and they are nice apartments. Plus we'll be tourists, so it's probably just as well??
I'm planning on getting my hands on the rental car early on and taking off with my brother for a few days somewhere, anywhere...
So, any recommendations are welcome as I'll be mobile. Just figured I'd take advantage of the exchanges rates while I can. I'll certainly look out for those two stores.

You can check out both of those stores online as well... www.bestbuy.com and www.circuitcity.com -- I might recommend doing some research, figuring out which digital camera has all the functions and features that you need within your price range. Compare the two stores.
I'm guessing you will be staying in Lake Buena Vista. If so, there is an outlet mall in there called the Premium Outlet Mall. I believe they have a few electronics stores in there. Take your quoted price to the store, to see if they have comparable prices. (Don't want to get ripped off!)
If thier prices are way more, then you can just head to Best Buy or Circuit City. Both are located over on Orange Blossom Trail (OBT), near the Florida Mall. Just take 417 (The Greenway) to OBT, not terribly far.
Lake Buena Vista is a nice area (I live just down the street), and not as touristy as I-Drive or 192. Plus, LBV is right close to Disney and Universal.

You may also want to pick up the local Sunday paper. There are always adverts and sale papers in them.
If you are just looking for a good deal then the Sunday sale papers are the first place to look. Circuit City, CompUSA, BestBuy, Radio Shack, Wolf Camera etc ..(they all have websites) are good reliable big box stores. You could also surf the web to see if there is any on-line deals going since you could have them delivered to a US address.

Thanks to both of you. I have a good idea which camera I'm interested in, so I'll have a look at the websites.
I did look on some price comparison sites but most of the resulting stores would either not accept non american credit cards or would not deliver to hotels/apartments.
And I now know for sure that I'm staying in lake buena vista, I can't remember exactly where, but it'll come back to me, what a joke, I'm just glad I don't have to remember! But yeah, I was there 8 and a half years ago, and we found it handy for everything. Though I believe it has changed a bit in that time!
Hopefully this will take some of the pain out of finding a good deal.
Thanks again.
