Having said that (which only scratches the surface, actually), the advantages of tabbed browsing are mostly evident if you're more than a casual web surfer. Then again, IMHO tabbed browsing is only one of many advantages Firefox has over MSIE. |
The only reason I keep IE is because Firefox hangs wheneven I try to open a PDF file. I have all the current Firefox patches and using Acrobat 6.0.4.25 Professional. So anytime I come across a .PDF file link I copy it to the clipboard and paste into IE to open it.

NM upgrade your Adobe Reader to version 7. It really works well with Firefox and is faster than 6.0.

Oh, and as said; dump Acrobat 6 ASAP, it sucks. |

http://blogs.zdnet.com/Ou/index.php?p=103 I don't think anyone claims Firefox is bulletproof, but that article is just plain FUD. |

I currently have 16 tabs open - oops, make that 17, I right-clicked Reply with Open in New Tab. I can see an icon indicating what site is on each tab, and enough text to know the content. I can hop back and forth without using my keyboard. In fact, I had to pick my keyboard up to type this after surfing with just a mouse for 20 minutes. I begin browsing by clicking one icon, which opens 7 favorite sites (MyFlyerTalk included) in tabs. I can click another to instantly open my 6 frequently-visited FT sites. Try managing 15-20 seperate windows sessions through the taskbar and alt-tab and I think you'll see. |
I'm a Firefox guy too and tabbed browsing was the main reason I started. Quick question...where is the program that allows all opened windows to pop back up after rebooting? I read about it somewhere earlier this year but can't find what forum it was in. Any ideas???

Second nicest feature, IMB, is Firefox's find feature: unobtrusive but not-too-much so. I <heart> Thunderbird, too.

Count me as another one of the "IE exists for websites that won't render in Firefox" (which is marriott, US online checkin, and a couple of corporate intranet apps).
I even use thunderbird on occasion (outlook is a must at work, and I'm still a Pine guy for personal e-mail). And +1 for tabs: it took me about a day, but now I don't know how I browsed without them. |
I use FireFox whenever when I can. Tabs will show up in the next version of IE like others have said.

when I travel I enjoy talking to strangers. On all my trips, whenever it gets around to computers, I invariably hear a story about a computer at home that is too infested with spyware. This is such a huge problem it isn't even funny. A lot of this is due to people using IE, Outlook, unpatched OS, no firewall, etc. But IE is a big reason. Look at ActiveX for an example of a giant security hole that is designed into the software!!
