Ok, so Yahoo! will be like gmail?
On Yahoo, the 'push' passes along the email to my device without keeping a copy in my Yahoo inbox at all. Does gmail keep the email in the inbox until one deletes it from the handheld? Maybe I will push my yahoo email to my gmail account then push gmail to my blackberry. That way I wont have to change my email address and I can still look at my blackberry email inbox on a computer when I have no bberry signal in my office... Uhg. |
If you use Yahoo you won't need to forward it to gmail anymore, after Oct. 2nd.
ScottC, I see what you mean about BBReply. |

ScottC, I see what you mean about BBReply. And if the answer is yes, why not allow that capability well before the end of BWC so we can get used to it/ensure proper functionality!??!!? |
Hmm, Im currently using the redirector on my desktop. We have Outlook/Exchange. Does this mean that I could use my Exchange Web like Yahoo and have mail pushed from their and reconciled wirelessly even without BES?? Currently I have to physically plug my Blackberry into my computer to sync filed or deleted messages since I dont have BES.

I can not give a definitive answer. What I know is based on what was posted at blackberryforums http://www.blackberryforums.com/ . That's the place to go for info.

T-Mobile's info on the upgrade includes two statements that I just do not understand / can't seem to get to work

When I log in to My T-Mobile, there is no mention of Set Up Blackberry Email. Anyone have any guidance on how this works (or does not work)?

How do you access settings from the handheld? When I log in to My T-Mobile, there is no mention of Set Up Blackberry Email. Anyone have any guidance on how this works (or does not work)? The software is only available for Windows PCs. I use an Apple PowerBook with PocketMac to synch MS Entourage with my BB. You'll need a PC to do the upgrade, even though there are some Mac sync solutions there are still no upgrade solutions. You'll have to find a friendly PC somewhere... |

Anything in particular I need for a PC - USB 1.1 or 2.0? In addition to the downloaded software from T-Mobile, I assume, I need some sort of "connection" software to load onto the PC. Where would I get that? I guess a baseline question is do I need to download the new software? T-Mobile's announcement doesn't seem to mention that the new software is required - just seems to make my BB work better. Could I just go with the web site (I'm dealing with multiple email accounts currently linked via BWC)? |

Install the desktop first. Then close it. Install the upgrade, and then restart the desktop. Click "application loader" and it will perform the backup/upgrade/restore. It can take up to 40 minutes for the process to complete. Finally; as far as I know you don't NEED the upgrade for these changes to the service, OS4 has some nice improvements but also slows the device down a little. So unless you run into problems after the changes, I'd stay where you are at the moment. As you said, you can just go to the my t-mobile website on the 2nd and make any changes there, it is a PITA to do so on the device anyway. |
ScottC - You are more than a moderator. You are The MAN! GREAT advice under somewhat bad T-Mobile-generated circumstances. I've never been impressed with T-Mobile customer service (though they did up me to 100MB w/o a hassle) and have figured calls to them would be worthless.

Okay, this is really weird. I set up a gmail account and set pop to work on it. I then set my TMobile blackberry to access it. First thing I noticed is it doesnt seem to forward in real time like the desktop redirector. It takes a while. Second thing is that I cant reply from the BB to any of the Gmail messages. Or more precisely, I cant send the reply. I can tell it to reply and I get the message with the address of the recipient, but then there is not place to send it. This is only on the gmail messages, the ones from my desktop redirector are fine. What the heck????

That is my setup; I forward all my Gmail mail to my tmobile.blackberry.net account, and use the free "BBReply" tool to set a from: address. Works like a charm! |
