Cingular Treo 650 users

Hey, I don't know if y'all know this...but Cingular/Palm have got a firmware (ROM) update out for the 650. The good news: this enables the Bluetooth DUN (dial-up networking) feature for the Treo. Which means you can use the Treo as an EDGE/GPRS modem with your laptop without the hacks.

I saw it showed up on there - how to use it - you need a bluetooth connection on laptop, correct?

Positive. It's in the bluetooth applet. Enable bluetooth, then look down (under the "make device discoverable" selection). It's there on mine. I got it all configured and tested this morning.

Yes, you need a bluetooth enabled laptop. A BT USB adapter will cost you about $20. It's the size of the tip of your thumb. Makes synchronizing the Treo immeasurably easier (ditch the cable) too.

PS-
Once you get it set up, you'll need to contact Cingular support for the correct username, password and dialup number for this feature. You might also want to confirm that you've got the unlimited data plan.
